d73: okay, so I have to tell you, I do believe someone can make their eyes stronger through eye exercises, but I do not believe a person can ever fully wean themselves off of contacts and glasses unless they are very young, like 3 years old and are able to reverse the vision patterns early on.
Troy: Your right that vision is very complicated. Humans have the best eyesight on the planet. Because we are very aware and self determining there is room for us to interfere with our eyesight. The eyes of people with perfect vision shift and scan from point to point up to a thousand times a minute. That is a very complex behavior. When we learn incorrect vision habits and add artificial corrections on top of that we reduce our eye movements down to about 200 to 500 times a minute and even less. The correct vision principles of our visual system are very simple and powerful. Most people who don't have serious health problems or mental imbalances are able to correct their vision within 6 months to 2 years just by playing with the correct vision behaviors in their "thumb twidling"(spare) time.
d73: I saw my optometrist and he told me he tried for a long time to correct his vision "naturally" through eye exercises; he told me that the only thing that can improve from doing this is a persons ability to focus, and even that would only change about 5%. I felt like he was being genuinely honest with me.
Troy: Yes what your optomotrist says is true, eye exercises or eye pushups do not work. They are like trying trying to get better at basketball by working out at the gym alone. In order to get better at basketball you have to practice the principles of basketball. It's a shame how many people have wasted so much time on eye exercises and have had to write off natural perfect eyesight because the exercises don't work. The eyes are actually much stronger than they need to be. When we have blurry vision we stress and strain and waste a lot of energy. That's why many headaches are associated with blurr and eyestrain. Perfect eyesight is effortless and amazing. I help people relearn the correct vision behaviors and unlearn the incorrect vision habits.
d73: so what ways other than eye exercieses correct vision?
Troy: Eye exercises don't help vision. When we get blurry vision we diffuse, stare, squint, and strain. For perfect vision we need to relax, centralize, move our interest from point to point. If you would like to learn more I recommend attending one of my Free Introductory Classes.
d73: I would totally attend one of your classes, but I don't live in Utah! I think I am just going to practice relaxing my eyes and moving them slower like you mentioned..
Troy: Thinking about moving your eyes slower would be contrary to free, easy, eyesight. There is a great book available: Relearning to See. Also there may be a teacher near you: Natural Eyesight Improvement Teachers.
You want to think about vision being free and easy. It's free and easy to explore details. With blurry vision we try to pull our ision back and stare at too much. We want our eyes and our interest to explore as if they were a dog on a long retractible leash. The more we try to hold our vision still and stare at as much as possible the more we harm our vision. Holding our eyes still and looking at the whole computer screen all at the same time is bad. We want to let our eyes rest on small details.
d73: yikes!..I go to school online FT and stare at a computer screen most of the day! Thank you for those links; I will def. look in2 them. :)

Sunning and Vision Options - Q & A 8
Sam R. asks: I heard looking directly in to the Sun heals eyes, makes eyes stronger, better eyesite, as well as spiritual advancement. Is this true? Ive been doing this alot, I love it.
Troy: Nobody should look at the sun with their eyelids open, especially people with blurry vision, the risk of damage is too great. Pointing your face and nose towards the sun with your eyelids closed can be very relaxing and healing, and is more than enough. No one should even think about looking at the sun with their eyelids open until they have perfect vision, and even then it is just not necessary, closed eyelid sunning is plenty beneficial and safe.
Sam R. asks: I think in order to correct or make my eyes stronger naturally is to find out what causes it, and how to see better by making my eyes Stronger,(key world) not weaker, but Stronger.
Troy: The eyes are plenty strong, its the way we use them together with the mind and body that gives us blurry vision. Blurry vision takes a lot of effort, strain, and energy. The blurry vision habits are very strong. When our vision is perfect it takes minimal thought and energy and no effort or strain.

Presbyopia - Q & A 7
Leslie S. asks: I am 49 and it was just a few years ago that I finally had to get prescription glasses (for reading). The focus just kept getting farther and farther away and very quickly. I am very frustrated with having to use them. I can't see to walk with them on and I can't see to read or do even accurate arm's length tasks without them. Coordinating everything I do and having to have them with me all the time, but take them off to just walk is very frustrating and the back and forth can make me dizzy and the nauseus. When they're off and I'm trying do common household chores at arm's length I find myself squinting which gives me a headache and makes my eyes (and therefore me) very tired. Even with glasses on, reading is a tiring chore.
So.....I'm sure you've heard that story MANY times! Do you truly have a solution for this situation??
Troy: I haven't had very many presbyopes(blurry vision up close,"old age vision") yet in my classes. One of them is very happy that she can read laundry labels again. My teacher Thomas R. Quackenbush has had many Presbyope students, and many of them do very well. Presbyopes or farsights tend to avoid looking at things up close and strain and worry when looking up close as well. I teach all the incorrect vision habits to avoid, all the correct vision habits to reintigrate into our daily lives, and many self healing activities to siphon off the damage from glasses, blurry vision habits, and strain and tension.
A good place to start is to get the book Relearning to See. Read through the Principles and Habits first then branch out to Self Healing activities and the other chapters. A teacher can help you get to the core of things much quicker when your ready. Since reading can be tough for presbyopes, a teacher can be even more important.

Eye Exercises - Q & A 6
Josh C. asks: Hey, check this out;
Paul McCartney Teaches Yoga for Our Eyes
let me know your opinion. I know we shouldn't "exercise" our eyes, but these seem like stretches. Let me know what you think.
Troy: Eye exercises were incorrectly extrapolated from the Bates method so they've been around since the early 1900's. They are one of the reason's why many people, especially eye doctors, believe that Natural Eyesight Improvement doesn't work. People try them and for the most part people don't improve their vision from them. People do them for ten minutes a day but for the rest of the day they are using their eyes in the same way that lead to their blurry vision. So for the most part they haven't changed anything. Eye exercises can quickly lead to effort and sometimes strain when people don't see the results they would like. Eye exercises leave out centralization and reconnecting, two very important principles of perfect eyesight.

I am slightly nearsighted and i don't know what glasses to get??
Cali J from Yahoo Answers:
I am slightly nearsighted and wanted to have a set of glasses for when i am driving. I often have trouble seeing signs in the distance. However, i am not sure what "power" to get. I know nothing about glasses!
TheEyeGuy: You have to meet minimal driving requirements which is 20/40 vision in most states. If you are slightly nearsighted you may still fit in that range. Nevertheless you'll want to find out what you measure from a good optomotrist.
Since your vision is slight, if you allow your interest to roam through the picture like a dog on a leash reel, and allow your interest to rest briefly on the smallest details you can make out from time to time, you might rediscover natural eyesight.

Artificial Corrections Harm Eyesight
Kaitlyn H from Yahoo Answers asks:
Im Nearsighted and my glasses make things up close blurry. Why?
I cannot see things far away. Such as street signs or movie theater screens. My new glasses help very much with this, however, they make my everything up close look blurry and worse than normal. Is this suppost to happen?
TheEyeGuy: All distance corrections way over correct up close. People who wear their distance corrections for up close work quite often lose their up close vision.
The typical solution solution for people in this situation is no line bifocals or progressive lenses. Both are very stressful on the visual system and can increase the pace of increasing prescriptions. Another typical solution is monovision where one eye is prescribed for up close and one eye is prescribed for the distance. This solution is also very hard on the visual system.

Sports Eyesight
StephenWeinstein from Yahoo Answers asks: Why was Tiger Woods unable to wear glasses?
In a radio commercial for laser vision surgery, Tiger Woods says that he had to wear contacts to play golf, that the contacts made his eyes water or red or something, that this distracting him from the shot that he was trying to make, and that only surgery would allow him to play golf without the distraction of contacts.
Why would eyeglasses not also be a (faster) option for him?
TheEyeGuy: Not only do eyeglasses box vision in and cut off peripheral, but they warp it as well, throwing off distance and angle judgement. I'm sure he tried in practice and found that it threw his game way off. Contacts follow the eyes and keep vision fairly stable and consistent. Lasik is etching your prescription onto your eyeball so it follows the eyeballs precisely. Glasses only give consistent vision if you stare exactly through the center.

Artificial Corrections Harm Eyesight
Ben C from Yahoo Answers asks: Is it true that wearing glasses will actually worsen your vision when you start wearing them?
or do they make them better or do they have no effect in making them worse or better?
TheEyeGuy: Most people notice that their unaided vision gets worse after wearing glasses for a while and then taking them off.
Whether our vision gets worse or not is dependant upon how we respond to glasses. Most people continue with the incorrect vision habits which gave them blurry vision in the first place, so most people who get glasses or contacts get stronger and stronger artificial corrections year after year.
Squinting and staring are a couple of the incorrect vision habits that give us blurry vision.
Artificial corrections don't make our eye muscles weak, in fact our eye muscles are many times stronger than they need to be. Eyes that are blurry are not weak, they are strained and over exerted from incorrect use.
Most eye problems are not genetic, but they are often inherited behaviors just like having the same language as your parents or other habits as your parents.

Pilot Eyesight
█|[ HB ]|█ from Yahoo Answers asks: If you have glasses, can you become a pilot still?
I heard if you don't have 20/20 vision, your dreams of becoming a commercial airline pilot is over. Is this true?
TheEyeGuy: You also have the option to upgrade your vision software. Many are finding that the way they use their eyes, mind, and body together is the cause of their blurry vision. When they unlearn the incorrect vision habits and relearn the correct vision behaviors they improve their vision naturally. Please note that I am talking about natural eyesight principles and not eye pushups or exercises. Eye pushups and exercises are not correct and do not address the real issues of poor eyesight.
I'm glad to see higher standards on vision. People who have learned to see through strong glasses are visually and mentally hampered. Their mental clarity can be impaired and their awareness can be quite obscured.
