M.C.: I have a question for you. I have noticed that My eyes are slower to focus up close than they used to be. Do you know any causes for that? Any exercises or something I can do?
Troy: Generally right brain dominant people tend to start having difficulty focusing up close around 40. They are naturally more interested in what's out there instead of what's up close. They tend to associate what's up close with stressful things. They don't want to spend much time on things up close so they diffuse to get a quick overview of what's up close and then go back to the distance.
Also I get the feeling that there is a mechanism built in us that encourages us to be interested in ourselves when we are younger: keeping safe and securing our interests, and when we are older this mechanism encourages us to be more interested in others and what's out there.
In any case practicing the correct vision habits especially in our weak areas can bring our vision back to balance. The Correct Vision Habits: Sketching, Breathing, and Blinking. The Correct Vision Behaviors: Move Through and Connect To, with Dynamic Relaxation and Continuity.
I think right brained people, people who tend to become presbyopic(blurry up close), just don't spend hardly any time exploring what's up close.
