Artificial Corrections at the Computer - Q & A 1

d73 asks: when talking about eye health at the computer, is it best to wear glasses instead of no glasses at all to protect your eyes?

Troy: The best option for most peple who spend lots of time in front of the computer is to wear 20/80 glasses. 20/20 glasses are for distant vision only and are too strong for up close. Also LCD flat screens seem to be easier and healthier on the eyes than CRT(cathode ray tube) screens. 20/20 glasses if worn up close will eventually weaken our close vision and lead to bifocals. The next best option is to not wear any glasses and use an LCD flat screen at distances greater than a foot if you can read the screen at that distance or further out.
